The mysterious Zone Of Silence

Enigmatic mysteries have always attracted human attention. The Zone of Silence in Mexico is one such mystery that requires a lot of exploration. To be precise, the scientists have actually figured out what causes the dark zone but there is more to be learned and explored.

So, what is this Zone of Silence? Close to Mexico’s Bolson de Mapimi lies a patch of desert which has been named as La Zona del Silencio, which in English translates into Zone of Silence. The exact place where this zone is located is Trino Vertex.

This patch of desert is very unusual. The very first incident that placed this zone in limelight was a 1930s incident. A man named Francisco Sarabia was flying over the area when he reported that his radio died and all his plane’s instruments went haywire. About 4 decades later, the White Sands Missile Base located in New Mexico fired a missile. Weirdly, the missile ended up crashing in the zone.

U.S. Air Force received a clearance from Mexican government to investigate the cause of the missile crash. It is then that the scientists figured out that the patch of land was actually a dark zone where no kind of signal (radio or satellite signals) can penetrate. Upon further investigation, researchers found that the area exhibited a very unusual magnetic field that prevented signal penetration. This explained why Francisco Sarabia’s plane lost its radio and why the missile ended up crashing in the area.

Following the finding, the Mexican government set up a research facility in the area stating that they are doing nothing but studying the unusual natural biome of the place in order to understand how they survive in the area. However, skeptics believe that the researchers are into something more and the government is not fully honest.
