Thappad- women needs to be respected and valued

Thappad-(Slap)The word itself is hard-hitting.

Taapsee has given a wonderful performance. She has been selective about her films which is why she is popular and so are her movies most of them giving some social message.

There seems to be a connection between the movie Pink and Thappad in terms of not taking women for granted and parents to be more focussed on their boys in instilling in them from the beginning to respect women and not treat them as mere objects.

The story revolves around an incident in the party when a Taapsee's husband slaps her in outrage in front of everyone. Her fight for self-respect drives her to defend herself against the entire world who seems to advise her to forget and move on except her father played by Kumud Mishra who supports her throughout which shows that the daugther-father relationship is special. There is a very interesting dialogue which Taapasee says to her husband-" I have invested my life for you and what i see in return is just love and happiness.

A very emotional moment when Taapsee breaks down in front on her Mother-in-law Tanvi Azmi and talks of indifference towards women making everyone's eyes moist. At the end, there is the transformation in her husband who confesses of him being disrespectful. It also gives a message of putting  U before I and not the other way always which would help solve lot of differences.

A different topic attempted by Producer-Director Anubhav Sinha who has successfully managed to bring it our with great determination and powerfully.

Dia Mirza has a small cameo. I feel her role as a neighbour could have been used more effectively to drive the point that some Men are loving, caring and respecting their wives. A son with Dia Mirza with lessons being given on respecting girls/women would have had a lot of impact with parallels drawn with the atmosphere in neighbourhood.

Overall a good movie to watch and take back home lessons.
