Ten ways to ace the ACT exam with a great score

For students preparing to take the American College Test, it is important to learn well and achieve excellent results. Many students approaching the end of high school wonder how they can ace the ACT and position themselves to get into good colleges. Even students with excellent grades can get nervous when they think about taking the ACT since your results can have a large impact on the success of your college applications.

Review the basic format to understand what you’re studying for. The ACT is a multiple-choice test with four sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. The English test consists of 75 questions designed to measure standard was written and rhetorical skills. The mathematics test consists of 60 questions designed to measure mathematical skills typically learned before the start of grade 12. The reading test consists of 40 questions designed to measure reading comprehension skills. The science test consists of 40 questions designed to measure a student’s ability to interpret, analyze, evaluate, reason, and problem-solve with the natural sciences.

Each subject has different learning methods for each subject, and only by mastering the corresponding methods can you achieve satisfactory results. Don’t worry, there are plenty of study tricks and tips you can use to do well on the test.

1.Create a study plan to keep yourself focused

After setting the next goal, you will have a longer plan. An actual study plan will help you stay more committed to your practice. To fulfill your plan, try to focus on the areas you struggle with the most. While you need to practice all areas of the ACT to be truly ready, if you struggle with one subject more than the others, set aside a bit more time for that area than the others. The whole purpose behind the ACT is to determine how ready you are for college, so any goal you create should be to get you into the college of your choice.

2. Make arrangements

Long plan, short arrangement. The plan can be long, but the arrangement should be short. In this way, you can adjust the planned time promptly, do a good job in time management, and strive for the achievement of one goal before proceeding to the next. Of course, this goal must be in line with your reality, and the quality and quantity must be completed.

3. Actively preview before class

Each subject prepares the lessons to be taken tomorrow so that you can attend the class with questions. Focus on listening to what you do n’t understand, then record the key ideas and problem-solving methods. After class, use your spare time to intensively practice until you have mastered it. Of course, practice questions are still to be done. When you see a certain type of problem that can be solved easily, it means that this type of problem, you can ignore it, and do a good job in the later period to know the new.

4. Focus on benefits in class

When you are in class, you must follow the teacher's thoughts. When you encounter something you do n’t understand, you should concentrate on listening, and try to grasp the key points when you attend the class. In this way, the efficiency of your class can continue to improve. Then, when the teacher asks to practice, pay close attention to practice and find out the difference between the teacher's thinking and your own. Then try to overcome it to understand and understand why the teacher did it. In short, it is to know what it is, but also to know why it is.

5. Efficient review after class

The efficient review should be done, observe, feel, and practice.

Observing: You must be serious when reviewing, carefully valuing each knowledge point, so that you can be aware of it.

Feeling: Just concentrate on reviewing, and don't focus on two purposes.

Practicing: Choose practice tests specifically set up in the ACT format so that you can study while also becoming comfortable with the way the test is set up. This will prevent you from being nervous when you take the actual test.

6. Efficient learning methods

Many people think that as long as you study hard, you will be rewarded, and you also think that when you are tired, you can better reflect the true meaning of this sentence. However, when you are tired, your thoughts are unclear, and in the face of a lot of knowledge, you will only feel bored and uninterested.

Do not study in a tired state, learning efficiency will be lower.  Learning under long-term exhaustion, even physical fitness will decline. Get enough sleep, take a break when you are tired, go out for a lap, take a walk, or take a nap. When you are in a good state, study hard. And you must summarize effective learning methods on time according to your strengths and physical conditions to solve the problem of low efficiency.

7. Be sure to preview before class

Learning is mainly composed of classroom preview, classroom listening, after-class review, and making questions. One less step will affect the learning effect, and the preview is what most students love to ignore. Through classroom previews, attending classes will become easier and more confident. Through the classroom preview, you can know which places are not understood and which are the key points. In this way, you can know which parts should be emphasized to listen to the class, and the efficiency of the class can be greatly improved. The preview does not require too much time. If the actual time is not enough, 5-10 minutes is good.

8. Focus on listening

This is a learning trick that everyone knows, but some people can do it, some people can't. For example, listening in the classroom is extremely important. It is necessary to follow the teacher closely and grasp the key points. It is best to understand all knowledge in the classroom. Many students have unsatisfactory results, most of them because they are distracted in class, and they don't listen to it at all. Generally, the class is distracted for more than ten minutes. It takes one or two hours to make up after class. You do n’t listen to the whole class. Your grades will only be at the downstream level.

9. Review in time after class

After class review, you can think back first, recall the knowledge explained by the teacher in class, and see how much you can recall. Then check for missing vacancies and review the parts that I didn't recall by reading textbooks and notes. The more times that the same knowledge is reviewed, the harder it is to remember, so try to review as many times as possible.

10. Pay attention to wrong questions

After completing the pre-lesson preparation, class listening, and after-class review, then you need to do the exercises. Regardless of whether you usually do a question or an exam, you will encounter a lot of wrong questions. You must sort out the wrong question book, remember the original question, the wrong cause, the correct method, reflection, summary, and then review more. The core is whether you can do it with your heart and turn it into your study habit, and you will get closer and closer to the high score.

Thorough preparation and a calm, confident demeanor are key attributes you will need if you want to ace the test. Remember that you can take the ACT multiple times, so if you do not ace it your first time around, you can try again later. But it’s best to shoot for a great score the first time so that you do not have to repeat the test.
