Rich or Wealthy

Although these two words have same definitions in the dictionary, there are so many contexts to define them. Often people mix up the terms "Rich" and "Healthy". They associate both of these terms with abundance of money or assets. Being rich means that you have a lot of cash and nice things. A rich person probably has a six digit good salary. He spends a lot of money on lifestyle. But he has to work for the money. A person can get rich overnight as well like inheriting money from a dead relative or probably winning a prize bond. Being wealthy however is a bit different. Firstly, a wealthy person doesn't have to work for their money. Instead, their money works for them. Instead of depending on a monthly salary, a wealthy person has businesses and investments. His money increases at a very fast rate that adds to his assets. In comparison, a wealthy person always has more money than a rich person. If a rich person's income was to stop today he would still have enough money to maintain his current life standard for a long period. For example if Bill Gates doesn't earn a single penny from today, he would still be able to maintain same life standard for next 228 years. In another point of view, being rich is associated with having more money while wealth is associated with many other things like happiness, satisfaction, peace of mind like a healthy relationship or a healthy mind. There's a very commonly used term "Money doesn't buy you happiness", which explains this perfectly. We see many people with zero bank balance being happy as compared to a millionaire living alone in a mansion. And of course it would be unfair not to mention this wise saying, "Health is Wealth". We can say that being rich is associated with money while being healthy is associated with money and many other non-material things as well. So we can say that being rich is just a small part of being wealthy.
