This week is a big one for Redmi. To cut it short August 29 is going to be a big day for Redmi -- now Xiaomi's sub-brand. Why? This is because on the slated date Redmi will launch several products across segments. The company has confirmed that Redmi will launch Redmi Note 8 series, first-ever Redmi TV and RedmiBook 14 upgraded version on August 29 in China. Ahead of the launch, Redmi has officially confirmed several details about the Redmi Note 8 series.

As usual under the upcoming Redmi Note series, the company will launch two smartphones. These two smartphones are the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the company has confirmed. The company has confirmed that both the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come with Gorilla Glass body, big battery, quad rear camera, Dot drop notch, among other things.

Besides some similarities, the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro are going to be very different, especially in terms of hardware and camera setup. Compared to the Redmi Note 8 the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be a powerful and have better camera setup. Ahead of the launch, Redmi has confirmed several keys details about the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Let's take a quick look at everything that the company has confirmed about the Redmi Note 8 Pro so far.

--MediaTek processor: Yes Redmi is back with MediaTek for its Note series. The company has confirmed that for the Redmi Note 8 Pro it will be using the newly introduced MediaTek Helio G90T. In comparison for the Redmi Note 8 the company opts for Snapdragon 665. This also Redmi has confirmed.

--64MP main rear camera: Xiaomi announced a Redmi phone with 64MP camera some months ago. That 64MP Redmi phone is the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the company has now officially confirmed. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the first-ever 64MP camera phone from the brand. With this, it is safe to say that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will compete with Realme's upcoming 64MP camera phone aka the Realme XT that is said to launch before Diwali. For now, Redmi hasn't revealed the India launch date of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will launch in China on August 29 alongside Redmi Note 8.

--Quad rear cameras: This is for the first time that the Redmi Note 8 series will come with four rear cameras. Both the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come with four cameras on the back panel. It is confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will use 64MP image sensor as main while the Redmi Note 8 will come with 48MP primary camera on the back panel. Redmi has further confirmed that the other three cameras of the Redmi Note 8 series will be -- Super Wide Angle, Depth of Field and Super Macro. The specs details of these three cameras are yet to be confirmed but rumours have revealed that the Note 8 Pro will come with 25X zoom capabilities.

-4500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support: Both the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come with 4500mAh battery. The Redmi phones are said to come with 18W fast charging support. For now rumours suggest that in the box the Redmi Note 8 will pack a 10W charger. This means users will need to buy 18W charger separately. However, it is expected that the Redmi Note 8 Pro may come with 18W charger in the box. No official details on it yet.

--Dot drop notch: Past rumours suggested that Redmi will go for a pop-up camera for the Redmi Note 8 series but that's not happening. For the Redmi Note 8 series the company sticking to Dot drop notch. This means from the front the Redmi Note 8 Pro will look like the Redmi Note 7 Pro as that also comes with Dot drop notch. The selfie camera will sit inside the tiny notch. For now, there are no details about the selfie camera.

--Type C and 3.5mm headphone jack: Most brands are ditching 3.5mm headphone jack and bringing wireless technology to the mass. But Redmi is still sticking to 3.5mm headphone jack and it is a good news. While some users are moving to wireless earphones most still use wired earphones. Similar to the Redmi Note 7 series for the Redmi Note 8 series as well Redmi is sticking to Type C port.

--Gorilla Glass 5 body: With Redmi Note 7 series Xiaomi introduced glass body in the mid-range segment. With the Redmi Note 8 series, the company aims to carry this forward. Both the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Both the phones will include GG5 protection on both front and back that improves the durability of the devices.

-Gradient finish and funky colours: Several renders of the Redmi Note 8 series have leaked ahead of the launch. The renders suggest that the design of the Redmi Note 8 series has been inspired by the Redmi K20 series. The quad cameras sit in the middle of the back panel and not on the side. The renders have also shown off the Redmi Note 8 series in green, white and black colours. We expect Redmi to launch more colour options for the Redmi Note 8 series.

--Redmi Note 8 Pro price: The price of the Pro version is yet to be revealed. But we already have a fair idea about the Redmi Note 8's price. The Redmi Note 8 is expected to be priced under Rs 10,000 in China. This also means that in India too - when the phone launches here -- the Redmi Note 8 will cost under Rs 10,000. Having said that considering the Redmi Note 8's price will be at par with the Redmi Note 7 it won't be wrong to say that the Redmi Note 8 Pro's price will be at par with the Note 7 Pro. The Redmi Note 7 Pro sells for starting price of Rs 13,999 while the India price of the Redmi Note 8 start at Rs 9,999.

--India launch of Redmi Note 8 series: For now there are no details about the Redmi Note 8 series' India launch. Some months ago Xiaomi India Managing Director and Global VP confirmed that a Redmi phone with 64MP camera is coming to India soon. Now we know that Jain has been hinting at Note 8 Pro. There are chances that the Redmi Note 8 series will launch in India around Diwali because at the same time Realme will launch its 64MP camera phone aka Realme XT.
