Tura Town, Meghalaya India

   Tura is the largest town in West Garo Hills District in the Indian state of Meghalaya. Tura is a valley located at the foothills of Tura Peak. The climate in Tura is neither too hot nor too cold, it's moderate throughout the year. Locals believe that the Native "God Durama" resides in these hills.

   The nearest City Guwahati one of the largest cities in North-East India is 220 km away from Tura town. The town Tura is also the Headquarters of West Garo Hills District. Besides the town, the little green valleys filled all around. The major languages spoken in Tura are Garo and English. Shillong the capital city of Meghalaya is about 323 kilometers away from the town can be communicated through buses and helicopter service.

     There are lots of streams and waterfalls in Tura. Travelers visit Tura to explore places and photo shots in an ultimate nature.

Tura Peak:-

 The Peak is  Situated at East of the Tura town almost seen completely from the entire town, about 5 km tracking distance through rugged terrains and dense forests. One can feel peace, cool and pleasant environment here. The tower at the top is the point to explore natural view of the whole surrounding.

Nokrek National Park:-

Nokrek National Park is the highest peaks of Garo Hills, located approximately 2 km away from the Tura Peak (average altitude is 600 mts). This beautiful national park is covered a thick forest. This biosphere reserve has major rivers and streams. This is a perfect spot for bird-watcher those who like wild life sanctuary.

Pelga Falls:-

A popular picnic spots in Garo Hills, surrounded by dense wood is about 7 km away from the town. One can create natural image beyond the Garo Bamboo bridge over Ganol river nearby. Pelga falls is popular weekend spots in Tura to capture photo graphs in scenic  view.

Siju Caves:-

Located near Simsang river is the third largest caves in the Indian Subcontinent popularly known as "Dobakol". The cave is filled with water, limestone caves and several species of bats. Hence the cave is known as bat cave by the locals. The place is covered by dense vegetation and several peacocks and Siberian ducks.

       This is not the end of the region, other places which will cheer the visitors are a portion of waterfalls Rongbangdare, Grandrak falls and streams like Nokmawari, Dachima and so on.
