Its PINK Time

Finally, in the 540th test match for India,  India is going to take on the Bangla tigers in a Day and night test match with the Pink ball on November 22, 2019. After their own share of resistance of the BCCI for the pink ball, Sourav Ganguly the new BCCI President initiative and proposal has been accepted by the Indian captain Virat Kohli and moreover the BCCI is going to use the SG manufactured Pink balls rather than the Australian Kookaburra or the English manufacturer, Duke.

But why is it that the color of the ball has been changed to Pink???

Cricket Balls

This is because a red ball under yellow floodlights takes on a brownish color, which is very similar to the color of the pitch. A pink cricket ball deteriorates more slowly than the white balls and has better night visibility than red balls, making them the most suitable ball for day and night test cricket.

But what will be the behavior of the Pink Ball???

It has been quoted by Virat Kholi after a practice session that a Pink ball swings a lot more than the red ball. The Pink ball might be a delight for fast bowlers. The issues concerning the use of the Pink Ball include visibility, durability, and unpredictability of movement. Sighting the pink ball might take time for the players used to the red and white balls. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see the pink ball swinging under the lights and the batsman tackling it.

How Does the ball get the Pink???

The special pigmented pink color is dyed on the ball and then the coated with lacquer to preserve that color for as long as possible.

The pink ball is going to excite a lot for sure but can Test cricket be bought to center stage with this new experiment of Day-Night Test and Pink ball. at the end of the day, let's Hope that Test cricket attracts many more audiences to the ground and the glory of it regained.
