How to share web pages with a QR code in Google Chrome

Google Chrome is the best-known browser among Android users in Spain. This browser is continuously updated with all kinds of functions, which allow you to get a lot out of it. Also, many functions are being announced that will arrive. As in January, when it was announced that QR codes would be used to share web pages.

It's common that at some point you've seen a website that you want to share with someone. Many times we use methods like sharing via WhatsApp or mail, but Google Chrome seeks to give us more options, being possible to use a QR code for it as well.

Share a website using a QR code

Once activated, when you want to share a web page from your browser, you'll have the possibility to use a QR code more simply. Since in addition to the usual forms that we have available, we can also resort to this new method. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Go to the website you want to share.
  3. Tap the three vertical dots at the top right.
  4. Go to Share.
  5. Choose the QR Code option (which is coming out now).
  6. Wait till the other person goes to scan that code.

So you can easily share any website with someone else. A good way if that person is with you in the same space and you want to send him this website. An interesting feature with which you can get more out of Google Chrome on your Android phone.

Turn on Google Chrome's dark mode on Android

Finally, in October came for all users the dark mode in the browser. What's interesting is that not only does Google Chrome's interface on Android turn dark, but web pages will also have that mode, as long as they're supported. For users who have an OLED/AMOLED panel phone, it can be a power-saving. The way to enable this dark mode is as follows:

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Go to Themes.
  5. Tap Dark.

Tap on a word to search for more about it

It's a feature that's been available for a long time but barely talked about. It's possible that when you're on a website there's a word, either a name or just a word, that you want to know more about. This is something that can be done by clicking on the word and selecting it. At the bottom, you will then be shown a panel that if you swipe will give you more information about this word in question.

Close tabs quickly

Usually, we have several tabs open when browsing Google Chrome on Android. When it's time to close a specific one, we click on the figure, and the browser takes us to a view where we have all the tabs open at that time. This step is unnecessary if we are clear that this is the tab that we want to close. Luckily, there are other methods to close it faster.

All you have to do is press and hold the tab button for a few seconds, the square that shows the figure. Then a pop-up menu will pop up that allows you to directly close that tab you are currently in.
