How to be Productive in Your Pyjamas?

We all can agree to the fact that home is not an appropriate place to work as subconsciously it will always be the place to relax and shutdown with no fault of our own a few years back none of us would have imagined that the entire globe will lockdown and homes will be our new workspace. While some of us enjoy working in a homely atmosphere, the productivity level is not the same even after introducing various employee monitoring software, time tracking tools, webcam monitoring, etc.
However, since it doesn’t seem like a temporary problem as we are working from our homes for almost two years, we need to improvise and come up with a plan to give our best. One should never compromise or give less than required to his/her job out of respect as it gives us bread and butter. Hence, we have listed below some pointers that will help you stay productive even in your pyjamas:-
1. Establish a workflow It is advisable to maintain a certain routine in our daily life, in the current working context it is important to create or maintain your daily habits. With this in mind, if you are a professional, you should get up, take a bath, eat breakfast and dress as if you are going to work. This makes it easier for our brains to understand that now is the time to perform professionally, even if we are not leaving the house. 2. Organize your time In order to be more productive, we not only need to create habits, but also adhere to the schedules to get disciplined. Most of us enter the office at 9 a.m., just like that, you need to turn on the computer and start the workday at the same time. The same rule applies to eating and resting, do not eat with the computer next to you. Due to the overload of work, the employee loses the quality of life, which leads to inattentiveness and exhaustion, hence, the key to tackling this is to learn to differentiate between working hours and free time. Another recommendation at an organizational level is to plan your day first thing in the morning by making a list of things to do. 3. Choose the right room To stay focused, you need to find a place in the house where you can work quietly. The ideal room is one with good light, a comfortable temperature and little noise. Comfort shouldn't be neglected either, a suitable chair and table are simple objects, but bring beneficial results. At this point, you can also work with the window open, because the brain needs oxygen to function optimally, it's science! This can also brighten up your morning and the entire day. Moreover, it is pivotal that the employee lets his/her family know that they are at home but he/she is working. This will surely minimize or avoid interruptions and distractions. 4. Communication with the team Although the remote work model geographically separates teams, the employee should not isolate himself from the rest of his colleagues. It is important to use all available tools so that communication is not lost. An effective dialogue through instant messages, emails, calls or video conferencing enables you to be aligned in all projects that the company is working on. 5. Learn to disconnect Another of your responsibilities as an employee is learning to disconnect and seeing this as part of your job as well. Being at home doesn't mean being available for work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You do not have to reply to the e-mail at 11 o'clock in the morning, instead, use your free time to cultivate relationships with colleagues and family. Having lunch with co-workers or even playing video conferencing games can be very effective team building methods.
