Generations of Computer

Introduction

A Personal Computer (PC) is an electronic device that controls data or information is has two parts "hardware and software" hardwares are physical components of Personal Computer (PC) who have two type output devices and inpute devices.

Software are computer programs Hardware are controle the softwares. Software are three types Operating System Software, Application Softwares and programing softwares.

PC can store, record, recover and process info.

These Days a PC can be utilized to type records, send email, mess arouond and peruse the web. It can likewise be utilized to alter or make spreadsheets, introductions and even recording. In any case, the development of this intricate framework began around 1940 with the original of Personal Computer and advancing from that point forward.

There are fige ages of (Personal Computer (PC) or five Generation of personal computer

First Generation

Introduction

1946 - 1959 is the age of first generation or age of Personal Computer J.P. Eckert and J.W Mauchy invented the firs successful electronice computer generation called NNIAC, ENIAC Stand for "Electronic Numeric Integrated And Calculator".

Few Exmaple are

1. ENIAC, 2. EDVAC, 3. UNIVAC, 4. IBM-701 5. IBM-650

2nd Generation

Introduction

i. 1959-1965 is the age (period) of 2nd generation of Personal Computer.

ii. 2nd generation Personal computer were based on Transistor instead of vaccum tubes

1. Honeywell 400, 2. IBM 7094, 3. CDC 1604, 4. CDC 3600, 5. UVICAC 1108

Are example of 2nd generation of personal computer.

Introduction of 3rd Generation of PC

  • 1965 - 1971 is the age of third generation of Personal Computer.
  • These Computers were based on tegrated circuits.
  • IC was invented by Rebort Noyce and Jack Kilby in 1958-1959.
  • IC was a single component containing number of transistors.

"1. PDP-viii, 2. PDP-XI, 3. ICL-2900, 4. IBM 360, 5. IBM 370" are examples of 3rd generationd of computer.

4th Generation of Computer

Introduction.

  • 1971-1980 is the age of 4th generation of computer.
  • This technology is based on microprocessor.
  • A Microprocessor is used in computer for any logical and arithmetic funtion to be performed in any program.
  • Graphics User Interface (GUI) technology was exploited to offer more comfort to users.

"1. IBM 4341, 2. DEC 10, 3. Star 1000, PUO 11" are examples of 4th generation of Personal Computer.

5th Generation of Personal Computer

Introduction

1. The period of the fifth generation in 1980-onwards.

2. This generation is based artificial intelligence.

3. The aim of the fifth generation is to make a device which could respond to natural langauge input and are capable of learning and self-organization.

Examples

Desktop, Laptop, NoteBook, UltraBook
