Foreign Reaction on Indian citizenship amendment bill

The Washington post say that Indian citizenship bill is a controversial citizenship law which is excluding Muslim Migrants the post also says article lawmakers in india on wednesady passed a fundamental change to its citizenship law to include religion as a criterion for Nationality. 

the post also says The new law creats a path to citizenship for migrants who belongs to the south asian religions but pointedly excludes Muslims Religion.

The bill has changed the Indian 64 year old citizebship law by giving citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jain, Budh, parsi and christians from bangladesh, pakistan and afghanistan, and nepal and also said that indias hindu nationalist government has won the parliamentary approval for a controversial law that would give citizenship easily to all community except muslims.

a federal panel on religion has urged the united states to weigh sanctions against indias minister of home affairs amit shah if the south asian nation adopts legislation that excludes muslims from a path to citizenship for religiou s minorities from its neighbours 

shah is a close associate of prime minister Narendra modi whose hindu nationalist led government is seen by critics as pursuing an agenda that undermines the secular foundations of indias democracy.

on tuesday the lower house of parliament approved the measure covering citizenship for non muslim minorities , especially buddhists, christians, jains, parsis, hindus, and sikhs from pakistan, bangladesh, afghanistan.

the bill has prompted criticism at home and abroad, as it marks the first time india is wieghing religion in granting citizenship, although it must first pass the upper house of parliament, where modi's party lacks a majority.

th measure goes against indias constitution, which gurantees legal equality to people of all faith, the us commission on onternational religion said.
