Do you know your personality type?

Personality can be defined as a unique set of characteristics that a person possesses. It varies from person to person which means no two individuals have similar personalities, not even twins. We all are different from each other in the way of thinking, feelings, and behavior. Personality is a reflection of someone’s characteristics, thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Hence we can say that it’s a very important aspect of human behavior. The way someone behaves and reacts to something depends on his personality.

 

 

We can categorize personality into three basic types.

If you have chosen the second one there is a possibility that you might be an Extrovert.

If you have chosen the third one there is a possibility that you might be an Ambivert.

You may have been asked questions like “Are you an Introvert, Extrovert or an Ambivert?” many a time during your job interviews, what do you think why these kinda questions have been asked in the interviews. Because every job profile demands a specific type of personality trait in the individual.

Let us suppose if a company hires a candidate having introverted personality traits for the sales job profile which requires continuous interactions with customers, his performance will be low In comparison to the candidate having extroverted personality traits.

Your Personality type plays a very important role in attaining any kind of goals whether related to your Personal or Professional life.

Let us discuss all the three one by one.

 

 

An Introvert

Who are they?

They are mostly inward-focused. They get their energy internally, from their thoughts and feelings. Introverts energize themselves by being alone. Sometimes we misinterpret them as shy, quiet, unsocial, etc. often may be true for some of them but not for all. They may be fun-loving and enjoyable when accompanied by people they know or trust.

Characteristics:

  1.  They love being alone or enjoy their own company.
  2.  Less talkative.
  3.  Need silence to concentrate.
  4.  Love working independently instead of in a group.
  5.  Make a decision patiently.
  6.  Smaller friend circle.
  7.  Love to observe, listen and write rather than talk.

Pros: They are good listeners and observers.

Cons: They are less talkative hence sometimes misunderstood as arrogant.

Careers that best suit this personality type: Librarian, Accounts, Administration, Writing, Graphic designing, etc.

 

 

An Extrovert

Who are they?

Unlike introverts, they draw their energy from external sources. That is they are more focused on the external social environment around them. Extroverts energize themselves by being around people. They love meeting new people and enjoy interacting with them.

Characteristics:

  1. They enjoy being with friends.
  2.  Outspoken and social
  3.  Risk takers.
  4.  Larger friend circle.
  5.  Enjoy being the center of attention.
  6.  Prefer working in groups.
  7.  Good leaders.

Pros: They can easily interact with anybody whether known or unknown without hesitation.

Cons: They are attention seekers and can be easily distracted.

Careers that best suit this personality type: Sales, Journalism, Law practices, Public relations, Training, Guiding, Acting, etc.

 

 

An Ambivert

Who are they?

Ambiverts lie somewhere in between the introvert and the extrovert personality traits. That means they draw the energy from both internal and external stimuli. Their overall behavior is a blend of introvert and extrovert personality traits. They can show the qualities of an introvert or an extrovert depending upon the situation.

Characteristics:

  1.  They are social but also value their alone time.
  2.  They are good listeners and speakers.
  3.  They can work in a group or independently.
  4.  Empathetic.
  5.  They can be the life of a party but at a certain point, their energy drops, and they need alone time to           recharge themselves.
  6.  They like attention in certain situations but generally, they prefer being in the background.
  7.  Ability to regulate behavior depending on the situation.

Pros: Flexible behavior, Good leadership qualities, Good at relationships.

Cons: They are not purely introverted or extroverted hence they feel a bit confused about what drives them and could make wrong decisions.

Careers that best suit this personality type: Management, Negotiations, Creative designing, Teaching, Marketing, etc.
