Digital India is a campaign launched by the government of India on 1st July,2015 Digital India campaign launched to ensure that Government Services are made available to citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure and by increasing internet connectivity.
Digital India consists of three crores components.They are following.
- Development of secure and stable Digital infrastructure
- Delivering government Services digitally
- Universal Digital Literacy
Through Digital India Programme the India Government aims to create jobs for 18 lakh people and bring investment of around Rs.4.5 lakh crore in the country.
The programme will be supervised and managed by the Digital India Advisory group which will be lead by India's Ministry of Communication and IT.
Government of India hopes to achieve growth on multiple fronts with the Digital India Programme specifically,the government aims to target nine ' Pillars of the Digital India'
- Broadband Highway
- Universal access to mobile connectivity
- Public Internet Access Programme
- E-governance- Reforming Government through Technology
- E-kranti-- Electronic delivery of service.
- Information for All
- Electronics Manufacturing IT for Jobs
- Early Harvest Programmes
Some of the facilities which will be provided through this initiative are Digital Locker, E-education, e-health ,e-sign and national scholarship portal.
Digi Locker is an initiative under Digital India Programme, Digital Locker facility will help citizens to digitally store their important documents like PAN cards , Passport, mark sheets and degree certificates.
To CEOs from within the country and abroad fully welcomed and supported the Digital India initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by committing to invest towards the cause.
The coast of This Programme is estimated about Rs.1,13,000 crore. It is one of the most expensive campaign carried out by the government in digital sector. Government intends to lay national optical fibre network in all 2.5 lakh gram panchayats.
The government plants to provide nationwide information infrastructure.
Digital India initiative aims to enhance the processes and delivery of different government Service through e-government with payment gateway,UIDAI(Unique Identification Authority of India), EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) and mobile platforms.It also intends to deliver the school certificates , voter ID cards online.
Through Digital India initiative India Government aims to Establish Wi-Fi facilities in all universities across the nation.
The Government look to make all information easily available to the citizens through online hosting of data.
The Digital India campaign is a great initiative to integrate digital technology for better future.
