Cry of Saraswati & her family for a new dawn!

Saraswathi aged 35 years lives in a remote village about 60 km from Trichy town with her husband Muniyappan and her two daughters Manimegalai and Banumany, aged 14 and 8 years. The family lives in a small thatched house covered with an aluminum sheet with no electricity, potable drinking water, and toilet. Saraswati was actively taking care of household chores, getting the children ready for school, and continuing. Both Manimegalai & her sister were studying in Amaiyapuram Government school in I class 9 & 3. Saraswati's husband goes for daily wage work for rs.150 rupees per day.

Her life was turned upside down one day when she was affected by leprosy, and her hands lost sensation, and it slowly affected her and the entire family. As Saraswati's condition deteriorated, she became more and more dependent on her family, and Manimegali soon started to become irregular to school and dropped out of school and was taking care of her mother. Soon Manimegalai had to do all the household work herself. With the minimum wages of her father, they were unable to make both ends meet.

One day during a routine field assessment to their village, Damien Foundation field worker identified the family and discovered that Saraswati was affected with leprosy. Damien Foundation provided her the required treatment to get a complete cure from the disease. Despite being cured, Saraswati was left with deformed hands because of the disease and was totally dependent on her family. Menimegalai discontinued her studies to take care of her mother, to cook food and feed her mother & perform all the household chores. The father has no option than to go for daily wage work because the family will have no money to sustain the day.

Saraswathi and her family need your financial help to support their livelihood to provide them a small grocery shop next to their house to have sustained a daily income. The shop will be managed by Saraswati's husband, and both their children can continue their studies.
