Life is a battlefield. Those who enter it with well-planned schemes get success. On the other hand, those who drift aimlessly come to grief and frustration. It is, therefore, necessary that everybody should choose their profession wisely. A wrong choice often mars one's whole life, causing dissatisfaction and discontentment.
In India uneducated people take their traditional family trades to earn a living. In Marwari and Gujrati communities, everybody, even the educated ones, follows the family profession instead of going in for the jobs. In some cases, a lawyer's son wants to be a lawyer and a businessman's son wants to be a businessman. But among the members of the educated class, son's does not necessarily go for father's profession. Therefore a choice between various disciplines is open to them.
The choice of the profession should not be made in haste. It should be according to one's taste and temperament. A man who has inclinations for medical services can do well as a doctor. If he, on the other hand, enters upon administrative services, he will never fare well in it. It is, therefore, unwise and dangerous to force a man to choose a career for which he has no liking or taste. Parents should guide their children in choosing his profession, but they should not pressurize them. A profession rightly chosen is the biggest blessing in life. A person will always be happy and satisfied with a job for which he or she has a liking.
There is a lot of professions for young men and women. Of these professions, Government sector services are one. It is so varied that its different branches afford employment for all kinds of talents. The youngmen who is good in academics go for teachership in Government schools and Universities. In the same way, those who are good at studies and have an engineering bent of mind become engineers. Some may like to become doctors and other technocrats. Others, by virtue of their merits, may join the administrative wing of Government like I.A.S, I.P.S officers. Many choose to serve the country and become part of our defense. There are still others who may prefer to be a businessman to earn a lot of money. For these people, money is God; money is power, money is life and everything else.
Every day, you wake up from a feathery bed, and have a delishious breakfast, live a life of comforts just because of the profession you have, and the income you get. But some people toil day and night to keep living and feed their belly. laborers work all day despite the weather. There is a large number of people who work as ragpickers, sweepers, and many other professions to make ends meet. So we should help these people as much as possible.
But I don't want to be a wealthy man, for I know that money is the cause of ruin of humanity. I have no liking for the profession of an engineer or a lawyer, nor do I have any inclination for being a doctor. I would like to be an administrative officer as it has been my dream for several years. An officer's profession is noble and prestigious. He works for the betterment of society and its people. An excellent administrative officer can change society towards progress and prosperity, and that's why it's my dream profession.
