A VIEW ON 5G TECHNOLOGY

What is 5G technology?

The 5G mobile network can be used not only to connect people but also to connect and control machines and devices.5G technology has an infinite level of performance and efficiency that enables new user experiences and connects new industries.

Advantages of 5G: -

With other new technologies, 5G uses a new radio interface and high-speed radio frequency (4G works between 700mhz to 2500mhz but 5G works at 28ghz).5G transfers information at high speeds with low congestion and latency (the total amount of time a signal takes to travel from browser to server and back to browser from server).

5G uses millimeter wave spectrum, allowing it to use more devices in the same geographical area (4G supports about 3500-4000 devices per square kilometer, while 5G supports about one million)

Applications of 5G:

1. Automotive Industry:

It enables vehicles to connect with other vehicles, pedestrians, roadside infrastructure, and with applications.

2.IoT

One of the most exciting and crucial aspects of 5G is its effect on the Internet of Things. While we currently have sensors that can communicate with each other, they tend to require a lot of resources and are quickly depleting LTE data capacity. With 5G speeds and low latencies, the IoT will be powered by communications among sensors and smart devices (here’s mMTC again). Compared to current smart devices on the market, mMTC devices will require fewer resources, since huge numbers of these devices can connect to a single base station, making them much more efficient.

3.Futur Factories:

Industrial automation is boosted  by the advantages of 5G's high speed, fast response and low latency.

4.Health Care:

Applications like Remote Surgery, Remote Health Monitoring (BP, Blood Sugar, etc.) and Remote Health Care will revolutionize the field of healthcare with 5G technology.

5. AUGMENTED REALITY and Virtual Reality:

5G will change the experience of augmented reality and virtual reality so as to benefit many sectors such as Games, Live Selfie Stickers, Live Interior Design, etc.

4G vs 5G

  4G 5G
BANDWIDTH 200MBPS >1GBPS
LATENCY 20MILLI SECOND <10MILLI SEOND
AVERAGE SPEED 25MBPS 200MBPS

Disadvantages of 5G:

1. Development of 5G technology is underway and experiments on its feasibility are in progress.

2. Older devices need to be replaced as they do not support new technology.

3.High costs are required to develop infrastructure.

4. The security and privacy issue yet to be solved.
